The jury in Derek Chauvin's trial for the murder of George Floyd started deliberating Monday and reached a verdict the next day.

Guilty.

Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted on two murder counts and one manslaughter count in the death of George Floyd, a Black man, in Minneapolis last summer. Floyd's death sparked protests throughout the country despite coronavirus lockdowns.

On Tuesday, crowds were celebrating the guilty verdict in major cities.
