A 17-year-old Columbia teenager was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of a robbery outside of a gas station.

Daveon Stuart was booked into the Boone County Jail on suspicion of multiple felony charges in connection with the apparent crime.

Boone County Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. Brian Leer said deputies were called to the Petro Mart gas station in the 5400 block of E. St. Charles Road for a suspected robbery just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Leer said deputies determined through various sources that Stuart agreed to sell drugs at the gas station but then hit the would-be buyer, took the money, other personal property and ran from the scene.

Deputies said the victim had minor injuries.

A person matching Stuart's description was seen shortly after the incident walking around the area of the gas station. Deputies determined around 2:56 p.m. the person was Stuart and chased him -- he was arrested shortly thereafter.

Deputies said Stuart dropped a bag during the incident, it was later detemined the bag had marijuana inside.

During a post-miranda interview, Stuart told police that he attempted to purchase the marijuana for $500 while at a gas station but took the marijuana and ran away without paying for it.

During the investigation, a video from the gas station showed Stuart assaulting the victim and then stealing $100 and vehicle keys before Stuart left the scene.

Stuart is charged with second-degree robbery, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Stuart's bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

  1. Store employees called in the fight and said the reporting party did NOT want law enforcement to respond. LOL, guess not when you are doing something illegal.
Daveon gave the cops a run for their money during the foot pursuit. He was jumping fences and making his way south behind Equipment Share. Cops were out of breath as they called in the street names and addresses as they chased him. If he made if just a few more streets he would have been on Volunteer Drive where the mass casualty shooting happened a while back.
Cops saw him drop a “large bag” of marijuana. The cops were worried Daveon was going to circle back to get it like Harold and Kumar.
The suspect description said he was wearing red underwear. I wonder if his pants being down slowed his ability to run from the cops.
He did try to double back but the police were too smart for him and caught him. Poor Daveon didn’t feel so good after getting his exercise so the cops called for medics to check him out.
I hope the Sheriff’s Dept didn’t use any “force” in making this arrest, it could make their stats look bad for picking on young black males who assault people, resist arrest, and deal drugs.
“During a post-miranda interview” ROFLMAO Daveon’s own lawyer is going to kick his butt for this. You never talk to the cops besides saying “I want a lawyer.”
