A 17-year-old Columbia teenager was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of a robbery outside of a gas station.

Daveon Stuart was booked into the Boone County Jail on suspicion of multiple felony charges in connection with the apparent crime.

Boone County Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. Brian Leer said deputies were called to the Petro Mart gas station in the 5400 block of E. St. Charles Road for a suspected robbery just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Leer said deputies determined through various sources that Stuart agreed to sell drugs at the gas station but then hit the would-be buyer, took the money, other personal property and ran from the scene.

Deputies said the victim had minor injuries.

A person matching Stuart's description was seen shortly after the incident walking around the area of the gas station. Deputies determined around 2:56 p.m. the person was Stuart and chased him -- he was arrested shortly thereafter.

Deputies said Stuart dropped a bag during the incident, it was later detemined the bag had marijuana inside.

During a post-miranda interview, Stuart told police that he attempted to purchase the marijuana for $500 while at a gas station but took the marijuana and ran away without paying for it.

During the investigation, a video from the gas station showed Stuart assaulting the victim and then stealing $100 and vehicle keys before Stuart left the scene.

Stuart is charged with second-degree robbery, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Stuart's bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
