COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Dennis S. Stanley was arrested and charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, manslaughter and intent to distribute after an overdose death in Vichy.

The Maries County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook it responded with the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group early Tuesday morning after a family member had found a 27-year-old man dead from an apparent overdose.

Once on scene, crews found capsules of suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation, Task Force Officers with LANEG and South Central Drug Task Force and members of the Maries County Sheriff's Office found and arrested Stanley for allegedly distributing the lethal dose.

Stanley was found in possession of 84 capsules of suspected fentanyl and one ounce of crystal methamphetamine.

Maries County Sheriff's deputies said in an interview, Stanley confessed to supplying the man who died with the suspected fentanyl.

Stanley is currently being held in the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Facility without bond.
