Home invasion in North Columbia Friday leads to suspect’s death
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Officers were sent to the area of Rice Road and Fair Lane on Friday morning on a call of a burglary with a weapon.
Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said the call to the 2000 block of Fair Lane came in at about 8:45 a.m.
The Columbia Police Department arrived and found the intruder, 20-year-old, Jacob D'Agostino of Columbia suffering from life-threatening injuries near the home. He was later pronounced dead at the scene after EMS attempted to offer aid to D'Agostino.
The victim of the home invasion shot D'Agostino when he illegally entered the home.
According to police, there were no other reported suspects involved in the incident.
The department says this is an on-going investigation being handled by the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
The scene was cleared by officials around 2:45 on Friday afternoon.

Several police cruisers were in the area and officers blocked off part of Fair Lane with crime scene tape. At least one Missouri State Highway Patrol unit was also at the scene.
