Jefferson City woman accused of Salvation Army arson receives probation
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City woman was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to a January 2020 arson.
Cole County prosecutors charged two people for allegedly setting a fire inside the Jefferson City Salvation Army.
Locke Thompson, Cole County prosecutor, said Guinn Burke pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of reckless burning Wednesday. She originally faced a single count of attempted arson.
Thompson said Guinn was given the maximum sentence for the charge.
The other person charged in the case, William Musgrove, faces a count each of attempted arson and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities said a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue was found at the scene.
As of Thursday, online court records said Musgrove had a court hearing scheduled for March 22.
Jefferson City police arrested the pair near the crime scene. Both allegedly admitted to officers to being inside the building when the fire started.
Burke's probable cause statement said she told officers Musgrove started the fire and she used it to warm her hands.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly and no one was hurt in the incident.
