Columbia police said Thursday that a woman injured in a shooting this week has died.

Maya Leah Nicole Wootton, 33, of Columbia died Thursday from injuries she suffered when she was shot Monday in the 200 block of Orchard Court in west Columbia, police said in a news release. Police arrested Lucas Gordon Harper, 34, and Elizabeth Emily Dye, 25, both of Columbia, after the shooting.

Court documents filed in Dye's case said she was homeless and sleeping in her vehicle. Dye was charged with armed criminal action, robbery and assault. Harper was charged with evidence tampering.

"Initially, this case was being investigated as an assault, however, because the victim died as a result of the injuries sustained in the assault, the Criminal Investigations Division is now treating this case as a homicide investigation," Lt. Matt Stephens of the Columbia Police Department said in a news release.

Charges against Harper and Dye had not changed in online court records when this story was published. Assistant prosecutor Chris Shelton said he plans to file murder charges against Dye on Friday.
