Man who brandished knife inside a Moberly hospital is arrested

MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Moberly police say a man who is suspected of pulling out a knife inside a hospital on Wednesday has been arrested.

A release from the police department said officers and Randolph County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Moberly Regional Medical Center emergency room after a 24-year-old man had apparently brandished a knife.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken into custody without incident, the release said.

The sheriff's office website said Dwane J. Long, 24, of Moberly, was booked into the jail just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping. It's unclear if Long was the man arrested at the hospital.

As of Wednesday morning, no charges have been filed in the case.
