COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police officers say an armed robbery called out near the Business Loop early Tuesday morning is under investigation.

A release from the police department said officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Larch Court for a suspected armed robbery around 2 a.m.

Police said the victim -- who is a delivery driver -- was making a stop on Larch when he was apparently robbed at gunpoint.

The victim told officers he was feet away from his destination when a man ran behind him, pressed a gun to his head and demanded property from the victim. Police did not say specifically what property was demanded.

According to the release, the victim dropped the food and drove away from the area. Police said the man who committed the robbery ran from the scene in an unknown direction of travel.

The release did not say if any arrests were made.

Officers said anyone with information about the crime is asked to the police department at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
