At least two vehicles were involved in the shooting and one house was hit by bullets, Boyle said. Police had received no reports of injuries about two hours after the shooting.
Boyle said the initial investigation showed shots were exchanged between people or groups. A witness also reported at least one person getting out of a vehicle and firing, he said.
Several CPD patrol cars were at the scene. An ABC 17 News photographer saw spent shell casings on the road and evidence markers. Crime scene tape was blocking part of Andy Drive.
ABC 17 News crews spoke with several neighbors in the area who did not want to be named.
One man said he saw someone shooting from the sunroof of a black SUV.
Another woman said she thought someone was banging on her door when she heard the gunshots. When she looked outside she saw the vehicles one of the shooters was in drive up on the curb and crash into her friend's car.
Both her and her friend's car had bullet holes.
Another woman in the area told news crews she heard the gunshots and told her relatives who were also in the home to hit the ground.
Neighbors say it is not unusual to hear gunshots in the area but they are not usually so close to home.
Columbia 911 dispatch records show this was the only time police have responded to Andy Drive in the last year for shots fired.
