COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police have arrested a man and a woman in connection with a Monday night assault at a Columbia hotel.

Officers arrested Douglas A. Lee, 41, and Candace A. Cook, 38, at the Best Western hotel on Clark Lane, where the alleged assault occurred, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Police were sent to a Columbia hospital at about 6 p.m. Monday, where a man told investigators he was assaulted by two people he was visiting at the hotel. The man told police he was pistol-whipped in the face, kicked and forced into his attackers' vehicle and driven to the hospital, according to the release.

The release says the man's injuries matched his account.

Police said they arrested Lee on suspicion of aggravated fourth-degree assault and Cook on suspicion of evidence tampering.

Lee and Cook were not listed on the Boone County Jail's inmate roster late Tuesday morning. Information about their cases was not listed in online court records.
