Columbia Police arrest suspect following an alleged drug deal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Police stopped a vehicle on Oct. 29 after detectives witnessed "two short stops" which they say is indicative of a drug deal.

According to court documents, Street Crimes Unit detectives witnessed a drug deal and pulled over a van following the deals.

The detectives made contact with the driver and passenger. They report smelling marijuana coming from the van.

After opening the sliding door, one detective recognized the back passenger as Miles Lambert. Because of prior investigations, the detective frisked Lambert and found a stolen firearm according to the probable cause statement.

According to court documents, detectives also found a stolen iPad in a backpack.

Lambert is charged with stealing a firearm and stealing of a fourth offense in ten years.

Lambert posted a $5,000 surety bond on Oct. 30.

Lambert's next court hearing is Tuesday.
