COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police have detained a teenager on suspicion of multiple recent burglaries around the city.

Police are investigating 10 such burglaries at businesses across town, the department news release said.

Police say the 16-year-old was seen on security camera footage throwing a rock through a restaurant window, going inside, and taking an undisclosed amount of money.

The release said the teen was suspected of burglaries at Agave Mexican Restaurant on Safari Drive and Tortelleria El Patron on Vandiver Drive.

Investigators said the teen is not tied to any of the other burglaries around Columbia.

As of Monday afternoon, it's unclear if Boone County prosecutors will charge the teenager.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477).
