A man accused in an officer-involved shooting at Midway this summer was in the Boone County Jail on Tuesday.

Corey Chandler, 30, of Denver, was brought back to Boone County on Monday after his August arrest in Russell County, Kansas, said Sgt. Brian Leer with the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Chandler is accused of crashing a Dodge Challenger into a deputy's cruiser during an Aug. 27 traffic stop. The deputy fired at Chandler's vehicle as he drove away. The sheriff's department said the deputy pulled Chandler over because authorities suspected the car was stolen.

The deputy was not injured.

Leer said authorities in Kansas arrested Chandler after a chase the day after the incident at Midway.

Prosecutors charged Chandler with five felonies: second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, motor vehicle tampering, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

Chandler remained in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000 bond Tuesday. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
