Jefferson City police: Man crawls, then limps from car after chase
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man crashed his car and crawled out of it as he was being pursued by officers Thursday afternoon, the Jefferson City Police Department said.
Officers arrested Charles E. Davis Jr., 36, after he would not stop his vehicle for officers, according to a JCPD news release. The chase began a little after 4 p.m. and officers stopped following Davis in the 700 block of Monroe Street, according to JCPD.
Police later found Davis' crashed vehicle in the 400 block of West Ashley Street after it drove into a retaining wall, the release says.
Witnesses told officers that Davis crawled from his crashed car then limped away, according to police. Police found and arrested Davis and found a stolen gun near his car, the release says.
Prosecutors charged Davis on Thursday with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and illegal gun possession. He also had outstanding warrants for felony drug charges, police said.
It wasn't clear from online court records whether Davis has a lawyer.
