Robbery, assault reported in Columbia’s East Campus neighborhood

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people reported being robbed and assaulted at a home in the East Campus area of Columbia early Sunday, according to police.

The victims told police that one of a group of six or seven men walking in the 1400 block of Ross Street at about 1:30 a.m. threw a rock through the window of the home, the Columbia Police Department said in a news release.

One of the victims told police he started recording video with his cellphone but was attacked by members of the group, police said. The victim told police the attackers stole his phone.

A second person who was on the porch also told police he was attacked by a member of the group, according to the release. Police said the victims received medical treatment at the scene.

The victims told police that four of the attackers left in a red sedan, according to the release.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
