COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police are investigating after an intruder reportedly fired a gun during an early Saturday home invasion in south Columbia.

Officers were sent to the 200 block of Nikki Way at about 2:15 a.m. The Columbia Police Department said in a news release that the man who lives at the address told officers he heard a sound, woke up and began yelling at the intruder.

The man said the intruder fired a shot then ran from the home, according to CPD.

Officers found a splintered from door, a casing from a bullet and a bullet hole in a wall, police said.

The intruder was last seen driving north on Carrieridge Drive in a small sedan, police said.
