Police investigate Wednesday night shooting in central Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police have started investigating a Wednesday night shooting in the central part of the city, according to a news release sent out Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of W. Worley Street and Pershing Road around 8:30 p.m. on a report of shots fired, the release said.

Police said several shell casings were found in the area.

Security camera footage from a resident's home showed a dark-colored passenger vehicle following a white Jeep on Worley Street. Officers said the footage showed both vehicles turn onto Pershing Road.

According to the release, the Jeep was reported stolen on Saturday. Police said the vehicle has since been recovered at a residence in the 1100 block of W. Worley.

Police said the vehicle was damaged in the shooting.

The police department did not receive any reports of injuries linked to the shooting.

No description was available for people involved in the incident.
