Shooting leaves multiple homes damaged in northeast Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office responded to the 4400 block of Rice Road around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning after getting reports of shots heard in the area.

According to officers at the scene, two homes were damaged by bullets. Police recovered shell casings at both houses.

When the first officer arrived on scene he observed a car leaving. However, it was determined that the vehicle was not involved.

Police said around five shell casings were recovered.

The department said there were no reported injuries and there was not any suspect information available.

One caller said they heard a vehicle leaving the scene following the gunshots.
