COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A suspect is in custody after an early-morning car chase Tuesday ended at a south Columbia lake.

According to officers at the scene, troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were in pursuit of a vehicle around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect vehicle stopped by the side of a lake in the 4000 block of Discovery Parkway. Officers said the driver got out of the car and was briefly in the water.

Authorities took the driver into custody. No one was injured in the incident.

Officials at the scene told ABC 17 News crews that fire officials are now recovering evidence from the lake. They were still at the scene as of 3:45 a.m. Tuesday.
