Police: Man arrested after gun threat at Jefferson City hospital ER

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City was locked down Sunday afternoon after a Callaway County man allegedly threatened to get a gun in order to gain access to a secure area, police said.

The Jefferson City Police Department said in a news release that officers were sent to the hospital at 2505 Mission Drive at 12:24 p.m. on a call of a threat in the emergency room.

Clinton Miller, 49, of Mokane, threatened to get a gun that was in his truck in the parking lot after staff would not let him in to see his daughter, who was brought to the emergency room by Miller's ex-wife, according to a probable cause statement.

Miller left the building and did not return, police said. The release says officers found and arrested Miller in the hospital parking lot. Miller told police when he was arrested that he did not have a gun, according to the probable cause statement.

More than 150 patients and staff were in the hospital at the time, police say.

Miller is charged with one count of second-degree making a terrorist threat and was jailed without bond.
