COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man is on the loose after leading Columbia police on a chase early Friday morning.

At least six patrol cars were searching the area of War Admiral Drive and Saddlebrook Place.

An officer at the scene told ABC 17 News crews they had tried to pull a driver over for erratic driving when they realized he was driving a stolen car. He then ran away on foot.

Authorities cleared the scene without finding the suspect. Police said they contacted the stolen vehicle's owner.
