State troopers say a Fulton man was arrested after trying to have sexual contact with a teenager in Morgan County.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F said 30-year-old Benjamin Roderick was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted statutory rape and attempted statutory sodomy for an incident that happened in April.

Court documents say Roderick had been texting a 16-year-old in Morgan County for several days between April 7 and April 10. According to Roderick's probable cause statement, he had sexually explicit conversations with the teenager after the minor admitted they were 16.

The documents say Roderick drove to a residence in Morgan County early on April 10 to meet with the 16-year-old. According to text messages included in the documents, Roderick and the teen had agreed to meet.

The highway patrol said troopers with the Division of Drug and Crime Control started investigating the case in June.

The teenager told troopers the pair started talking on Snapchat and previously exchanged nude photos.

Morgan County prosecutors charged Roderick with a count each of attempted statutory rape and attempted statutory sodomy.

Online court records say his bond was set at $50,000. According to Morgan County Jail records, he has since posted bond.
