Columbia man charged after foot chase in Scott Boulevard area
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone County prosecutors charged a Columbia man who led police on a foot chase Thursday with burglary and resisting arrest.
Police cruisers converged along part of Scott Boulevard on Thursday afternoon in a search of a suspect who turned out to be Daniel D. Ayers, 18.
According to court documents, police were searching for Ayers in the 500 block of South Scott Boulevard for outstanding warrants. While there, police say they saw Ayers sticking his head out the second-story window of a home.
Ayers then allegedly ran out of the back of the home headed east. Court documents say police found him in another home. The person who lived there told police Ayers came in through the garage and said "The police are after me," court documents say.
Police say they arrested Ayers in front of the home.
Ayers was charged with first-degree burglary and felony resisting arrest. He was in the Boone County Jail on Friday on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
He also faces charges of disobeying a judge's order and tampering with electronic monitoring equipment in two other cases. His combined bond in those cases is $65,000 cash-only.
