Prosecutors have charged a Boonville Correctional Center inmate with murder after he allegedly provided a fatal dose of fentanyl to another inmate.

Dontae H. Bell, 27, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the December death of Richard Weyer. Investigators say Bell was seen on surveillance visiting Weyer's cell and handing him something before Weyer was found unresponsive.

The video showed Weyer snort something up his nose after Bell visited, according to a probable cause statement. The investigator who wrote the statement said Bell stopped answering questions when he was asked about the video.

An autopsy report showed Weyer died of a fentanyl overdose, according to the statement.

No lawyer was listed for Bell in online court records. Arraignment is scheduled for May 26.

Bell is in prison serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree robbery.
