COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fourth suspect has been charged in a January midday shooting on Business Loop 70 in Columbia.

Demarkus V. Cain Jr., of Columbia was charged Monday with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in the Jan. 26 shooting of a car in the roundabout at I-70 Drive S.W. Cain was arrested Monday, according to online court records.

Police wrote in a probable cause statement that Cain and others in the vehicle with him were targeting a person inside the other vehicle on the Business Loop involved in the shooting. Several shots were fired into the driver's side door of the other vehicle but no one was hit.

Cain had given police an alibi that he was home at the time of the shooting. Investigators said evidence including information on his cellphone and a witness identifying Cain in a lineup disproved that alibi.

Cain remained in the Boone County Jail on Wednesday on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Three other men -- Christopher Carter, Michael Whitley and Courtney Brown Jr. -- have also been charged in the incident.
