Kacey Ligon faces charges of child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child after being accused of threatening to kill her infant.

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cole County prosecutors charged a Centertown woman with endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse on Wednesday.

Kacey Ligon, 35, is accused of threatening to kill her 1-year-old baby and attacking her sister.

Court documents say Ligon told her sister on multiple occasions that she planned to kill the child and made comments about stabbing her husband.

Ligon's probable cause statement said her sister went to Ligon's home on Feb. 14 and demanded she hand over the child. The sister told police she was concerned about the infant's well-being.

According to the document, Ligon put her child into its crib, then attacked her sister. Officers said both women had cuts and bruises, and her sister had a cut on the ear where Ligon allegedly ripped her earing out.

Online court records show no bond was set in Ligon's case. The same records show a family member filed a protection order against Ligon to keep her from seeing the child.

A court hearing in Ligon's case is scheduled for Friday.
