COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County prosecutors charged a Columbia man Tuesday with misdemeanor sexual abuse after he was arrested over the weekend in Columbia.

Brooks Travis, 45, faces a misdemeanor count of second-degree sexual abuse in connection with the incident. According to a probable cause statement, Travis touched a woman's breast several times without her consent while traveling in a vehicle and at an address on Woodland Springs Court in Columbia on Saturday.

Boone County Jail records show Travis was booked into the jail around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. He posted a $1,500 bond and was released from jail Sunday.

Travis formerly worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Father Tolton Catholic High School. A diocese of Jefferson City spokeswoman said Monday that he has since been fired from the school.

Travis is listed as a chiropractor at Lordex Spine Center of Columbia. A representative of the company declined to comment about the case and Travis.

No attorney was listed for Travis in online court records.
