Officer injured, suspect killed after shooting near Rolla

CUBA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A police officer in Cuba, Missouri was injured while on-duty Saturday afternoon.

Cuba Police Chief Doug Shelton said the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance around 1:30 p.m.

The officer entered the residence to make contact with a man who was reported to have a gun. The officer was then shot in the leg twice and returned fire hitting the suspect.

The suspect involved in the shooting was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a statement. The officer was transported by helicopter for medical treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Names of all of the individuals involved are being withheld pending a full investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Cuba Police provided information about the incident on their Facebook page.

The Maries County Sheriff's Department also shared a post on Facebook in relation to this incident.
