Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in Columbia knife attack

Police are investigating a stabbing in central Columbia.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

A woman was left with life-threatening injuries Friday morning after she was attacked with a knife in central Columbia.

Police were sent to the call at about 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Park Avenue. Officers found a 34-year-old Columbia woman had been attacked with a knife, the Columbia Police Department said in a news release. An ambulance took the woman to a hospital, police said.

Officers arrested Larry Wesley Galbreath, 50, on suspicion of three counts of child endangerment, first-degree domestic assault, first-degree kidnapping, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, resisting arrest, third-degree assault and assault of a law enforcement officer, according to the release.

Police provided no other details, citing the ongoing investigation. Information about Galbreath's case was not available in online court records Friday afternoon.
