Columbia man faces assault charge for an alleged attack with a metal pipe

Willem Campbell was charged with second-degree assault in Boone County for allegedly hitting a man with a metal pipe.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man faces a charge of second-degree assault in Boone County accused of hitting another man with a metal pipe on Thursday.

Willem Campbell, 25, allegedly attacked the victim in the 900 block of Jefferson Street.

Campbell's probable cause statement shows he was standing in the middle of the street when the apparent victim was driving home. Court documents say Campbell ran over to the man as he was parking and started hitting the man's car as well as the man with the metal pipe.

Police said the victim's vehicle had a cracked windshield and that the man was walking with a limp. Documents say Campbell hit the victim in the knee.

Campbell was arrested on North Garth Avenue. Police said the victim identified Campbell as the person who attacked him.

Campbell is being held in the Boone County Jail on a $10,500 bond. He faces charges of assault, armed criminal action and property damage. Online court documents show Campbell has a court scheduled for Jan. 29.
