MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ) -

Moberly police arrested one man in connection to an armed robbery at a gas station Wednesday night.

In a news release, the Moberly Police Department said officers went to the Daily Mart Gas Station at 300 W. Rollins St. around 8:30 p.m. New Year's Day.

A man reportedly went into the store with a handgun and demanded money. The man then left the store on foot after he was given the money.

An officer saw the suspect in the 600 block of Rollins St. shortly after and a foot chase started when the officer tried approaching the man, the release said.

During the chase, officers said the man led them downtown where he climbed on top of one of the buildings in the 500 block of W. Reed St. Moberly police requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter, but the man reportedly climbed down before the helicopter arrived.

The man is currently in the Randolph County Justice Center facing robbery and armed criminal action charges.

Police did not release the name of the suspect.
