Two men were arrested and charged on Thursday in connection with a Jefferson City shooting that happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Jerome E. Malone, 53, of Jefferson City and Clifton Grinston, 33, of Jefferson City, were allegedly shooting a gun near an apartment complex in the 200 block of W. Atchison Street.

Police were called to the area around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, and witnesses said Malone and Grinston were shooting a gun, according to court documents filed Thursday. Police found shell casings in the area and found Malone and Grinston in their apartment.

After searching the apartment, police found two guns, one of which was stolen.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Malone and Grinston were taken to the Cole County Jail. Malone was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, stealing a firearm and resisting arrest. Grinston was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.
