COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cole County prosecutors charged a man with drug possession after county deputies said he led authorities on a chase in November.

Ben Bates, 27, of Lohman was arrested and charged Monday.

Court documents say Bates drove on the wrong side of the road after pulling out of a dollar store parking lot southwest of Jefferson City around 11 p.m. Nov. 2. Deputies said he didn't pull over after authorities turned on their emergency lights.

Documents show Bates crashed into a tree after he turned onto Loesch Road. Deputies said he was arrested after running from the scene. Bates' probable cause statement shows deputies found methamphetamine and marijuana on his person when he was arrested.

Online court records show Bates' bond was set at $20,000. A court hearing in his case is scheduled for Dec. 13.
