Cooper County warns of manhunt

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE as of 9 p.m.: A trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F says law enforcement is still searching for a man in Cooper County. The trooper said residents are asked to call authorities, if you see anything suspicious.

The Cooper County Emergency Management Agency issued an alert Friday telling people in the area of Highway 98 and Highway 179 to be on guard.

According to alerts sent via text, law enforcement officers were looking for a man with shaggy blonde hair near the intersection, close to Interstate 70. The alerts told residents to stay inside and call 911 if they spot something suspicious.

An ABC 17 News crew found two state troopers at the scene but they declined to comment, saying an official statement would be released later.
