The FDA on Wednesday authorized the emergency use of an updated COVID-19 booster shot in people as young as 5.
The CDC still has to weigh in and is expected to give its OK.
The shots have been available for people 12 and older since September and are meant to offer greater protection against the dominant omicron variants of the coronavirus.
