WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports two new coronavirus-related deaths, 53 new cases

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting two new coronavirus-related deaths. The county has reported 243 COVID deaths since March 2020.

The county is also reporting that 53 new coronavirus cases were added to the information hub on Wednesday.

Of those 53 new cases, 41 cases were reported for Monday. The rest of the cases were reported throughout the month of May. The county delays reporting cases by two days.

The dashboard is showing 10 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals. Three patients are in the ICU and one patient is on a ventilator.

Additionally, 45,241 previous COVID-19 cases were recorded previously.

Boone County is reported to have a low COVID-19 community level, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).

The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.

The district reported a 33.1 14-day rate for last Monday.

CPS reports that 21 district facilities (10 elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools and four other district-wide facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19.

The district is reporting 28 coronavirus cases in staff across the district. The breakdown in staff shows 15 staff members at an elementary school, six staff members at middle schools, four staff members at the high school level and three staff members at district-wide facilities who have tested positive for COVID-19. Three staff members at elementary schools have to quarantine due to being in close contact.

The district reported 11 district facilities that have reported coronavirus cases in students. In the district, there are six out of 21 elementary schools, one out of seven middle schools, three out of four high schools and one district-wide facility have reported coronavirus cases in students.

There are 17 active coronavirus cases in the district. There are seven cases in elementary schools, one case at the middle school, eight cases at the high school level and one case at a district-wide facility. Two cases are currently being quarantined due to COVID. The district is reporting one case at the elementary school level and one case at the high school level that is currently in quarantine.

Cole County reports 14 new COVID cases

The Cole County Health Department reported 14 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the county reported 12 new cases and two from Tuesday.

According to the dashboard update, there are 17,498 total cases in the county since March 2020.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports Cole County as having a low COVID-19 community level.

The Jefferson City School District reported one new coronavirus case in a student on Tuesday. There are no new cases in staff members.

The district is reporting two active case in a student and no active case in a staff member.
