TUESDAY UPDATES: New COVID-19 cases remain low in Boone, Cole counties

Reports of new coronavirus cases remained low Tuesday in Cole and Boone counties, with each adding a few new cases to their totals.

Boone County reported 10 new positive tests for a total of 43,014 cases since the pandemic began. Boone County's hospitals are treating 11 COVID-19 patients, with four of them in intensive care and just one on a ventilator.

Columbia Public Schools reported just 17 active student cases Tuesday.

Cole County reported four new cases since Monday for a total of 17,378 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.

Case rates around the country have dropped dramatically since the end of the omicron surge, which set records for case numbers and hospitalizations.
