THURSDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports a second straight day of double-digit new COVID cases
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 14 new coronavirus cases were added to the information hub on Thursday. The county delays reporting cases by two days.
The dashboard is showing 12 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals. Of the 12 patients, two patients are in the ICU and one of them is on a ventilator.
The county has reported 42,962 since the pandemic began. The county has reported 14,083 cases since 2022 started.
Boone County is reported to have a low COVID-19 community level, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.
The district reported a 7.5 14-day rate for last Tuesday.
CPS reports that 16 district facilities (eight elementary schools, four middle schools, one high school and three other district-wide facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19.
The district is reporting 17 coronavirus cases in staff across the district. The breakdown in staff shows seven staff members at an elementary school, five staff members at middle schools, three staff member at the high school and two staff members at district-wide facilities who have tested positive for COVID-19. Three staff members at elementary schools have to quarantine due to being in close contact.
The district reported 10 district facilities that have reported coronavirus cases in students. In the district, there are five out of 21 elementary schools, four out of seven middle schools and one out of four high schools have reported coronavirus cases in students.
There are seven active coronavirus cases in the district. There are four cases in elementary schools, two cases in the middle school and one case in a high school. There are 13 cases that are currently quarantined due to COVID. The district is reporting five cases at the elementary school level, seven at the middle school level and one at the high school level that is currently in quarantine.
State profile report shows nearly all counties are considered low community transmission
The newest State Profile Report shows Missouri remains at a low transmission level of COVID-19. The report shows new cases are down with one case per 100,000 people.
The report shows Missouri had 2,949 new cases of COVID-19 for the week of April 1.
The report also indicates there were no residents had died from the coronavirus.
The report indicates all Missouri counties reportedly are low community transmission except Montgomery County, a medium transmission county.
Over 76.9% of Missouri residents 18 years and old have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine and 65.2% are considered fully vaccinated.
According to the report, over 90% of coronavirus cases were identified as the omicron variant and over 9% was considered the BA.2 variant.
According to the report, seven hospitals are dealing with supply shortages or six percent of all hospitals.
Cole County reports third day in a row of one new COVID case
The Cole County Health Department reported one new coronavirus case on Thursday.
According to the dashboard update, there are 17,041 residential cases and 331 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 17,372 total cases in the county since March 2020.
The county has reported 200 coronavirus deaths since the pandemic began.
The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports Cole County as having a low COVID-19 community level.
The Jefferson City School District reported no new coronavirus case in a student or in a staff member on Thursday.
The district is reporting one active case in a student and no active case in a staff member.
