WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Nine new patients added to ICUs; 27 total in Boone County hospitals
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported 84 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.
There are currently 439 active cases in the county and 26,747 cases since the pandemic began. The county reported 26,128 cases removed from isolation.
Boone County ranks 11th in the state with the most coronavirus cases in total volume in the past week. Cases are down 16% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has a 9% positivity test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
The health department's hospital status is yellow with 77 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals and 28 of them being Boone County residents. Of the 77 patients, 27 are in intensive care and nine are on ventilators.
The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports that 109,675 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 96,106 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.
Boone County has the third-largest percentage of county residents in Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 60.8%. The largest county in the state is St. Louis County with 64.5%.
Boone County is third in the state with a reported 53.3% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Louis County is the first county in the state with 56.2% of residents having completed the doses for vaccination. The city of Joplin has 58.6% of the population fully vaccinated.
Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 52.3%. Callaway County is third with 48.1%.
The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.
The district reported a 33.7 14-day rate per 10,000 for Tuesday.
CPS reports 10 district facilities (six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and two other district-wide facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19. Seven staff members at an elementary school, one staff member at a middle school, one staff members at a high school and two staff member at a district-wide facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
The district reports 32 district facilities to have students currently out due to the coronavirus. The district is reporting 19 of the elementary schools, all of the middle schools and high schools and two district-wide facilities are affected.
There are 43 students that have tested positive for COVID-19. The district is reporting 29 students in elementary, six students in middle school, seven students in high school and one student at a district-wide facility have tested positive for the coronavirus.
There are 196 students who are required to quarantine due to the coronavirus. The district reports 134 elementary students are currently quarantining, 40 students in middle school, 12 students in high school and 11 students at district-wide facilities.
Cole County reports second straight day of over 40 new coronavirus cases
The Cole County Health Department reported 46 new coronavirus cases from Monday.
According to the dashboard update, there are 11,859 residential cases and 289 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 12,148 total cases in the county.
Cole County reports there are 168 coronavirus deaths since the pandemic began.
Cole County ranks 40th in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per 100,000 in the past week. Cases are down 21.4% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has reported an 10.4% positivity test rate, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 52.3% of the county have initiated their first dose of the vaccine and 47.8% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.
The Jefferson City School District reported two new coronavirus cases in the student population and no new cases in staff member from Tuesday.
The district is reporting two new active cases in students and no active cases in staff.
The district is reporting 112 close contacts for students and nine close contacts for staff.
More than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases since Tuesday
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has shown the confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased by 2,186 in 24 hours. There have been a total number of 742,700 confirmed cases since the pandemic began.
Since Tuesday, the number of probable COVID-19 cases has increased to 875, according to the Missouri state dashboard. Since March 2020, there have been over 167,700 probable cases of the virus.
The Missouri COVID dashboard has confirmed the total number of deaths since the pandemic began is sitting at 12,602. There have been eight COVID related deaths in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 1,350 people that are hospitalized with the Coronavirus in Missouri, the state dashboard stated. Of that number, more than 300 people are in the Intensive Care Unit.
The dashboard reports the positivity rate in Missouri has slightly increased to 11.4%.
