WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Boone County to update information hub Thursday morning

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting that today’s update will be posted Thursday morning.

Boone County ranks seventh in the state with the most coronavirus cases in total volume in the past week. Cases are down 14.5% on the week. The county has a 8.4% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports that 102,303 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 92,073 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses. Boone County has the largest percentage of county residents in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 56.7%. The second closest county in the state is St. Louis County with 55.9%.

Boone County is first in the state with a reported 51% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Louis County is the second county in the state with 50% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination. The city of Joplin has 54.1% of the population fully vaccinated.

Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 49%. Montgomery County is third with 45%.

The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.

On Tuesday, the district reported a 49.6 14-day rate per 10,000.

CPS reports 14 district facilities (seven elementary schools, one middle school, three high schools and three other district facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19. There is seven staff at elementary and two staff at a high school that have tested positive for the coronavirus. The district has 10 staff currently quarantined because of COVID.

The district reports 31 district facilities to have students currently out due to the coronavirus. There are 18 out of 21 elementary, all middle and high schools and two districtwide facilities affected.

There are 58 students that have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of five from Tuesday. The district is reporting 32 students in elementary, 12 students in middle school, 13 students in High School and one at a districtwide facility have tested positive for the coronavirus.

There are 333 students, which are required to quarantine due to the coronavirus, an increase of 51 students. The district reports 166 elementary students are currently quarantining, 106 students in middle school, 52 students in high school and 12 at other district facilities.

Cole County reports 22 new coronavirus cases

The Cole County Health Department reported 22 new coronavirus cases from over the weekend.

According to the dashboard update, there are 10,698 residential cases and 284 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 10,982 total cases in the county.

Cole County has reported 155 coronavirus deaths; nine deaths were reported Tuesday after the state analyzed death certificates.

Cole County ranks 43rd in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per capita in the past week. Cases are down 8% comparing last week to the prior week. The county has an 11.1% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 49% of the county have initiated their first dose of the vaccine and 44.5% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.

The Jefferson City School District reported three new student coronavirus cases. The district has 14 active coronavirus cases in students and two active cases in staff.

The district is reporting six close contacts for students and one close contact for staff.

Missouri's seven-day positivity rate falls below 11%

The seven-day positivity rate in Missouri continued a downward trend on Wednesday.

Data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services showed the positivity rate fell from 11.1% on Tuesday to 10.9%.

According to the state health department, 1,927 people tested positive for COVID-19 through PCR Testing.

Antigen testing revealed another 816 new coronavirus cases.

Missouri added 11 new virus-related deaths. At least 11,021 people across the state have died from COVID-19.

The number of people hospitalized in Missouri increased on Wednesday to 1,915. According to the state health department, 316 of those patients were on ventilators.

More than 2.8 million Missourians have completed the coronavirus vaccination process.

That's 46.4% of Missouri's population.
