Registration closes Wednesday for first round of Missouri vaccine incentives

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Since Gov. Mike Parson announced the vaccine incentive program in Missouri in July, 375,000 Missourians have signed up for a chance to win $10,000.

Acting director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Robert Knodell said there has been an increase in vaccinations since the vaccine program was announced.

"Vaccinations have increased nearly 50% in the past month, and we hope to see this progress continue because widespread vaccination is absolutely still the best way for us to all move beyond COVID-19 together,” Knodell said.

In the past few weeks, vaccine orders across Missouri have also increased. Since July 19, Missouri has received more than 20,000 doses of the vaccine each week compared to the month of June when orders were sitting in the single-thousands.

Knodell said the health department is encouraged by the increase in vaccinations and hopes everyone will get at least one dose to have a chance at winning.

"All over the state the program is prompting people to have important conversations with people they trust and that's part of what this program is all about," he said.

According to the state's vaccine dashboard, 42.1% of Missourians are fully vaccinated, and 49.3% have had at least one dose of the vaccine.

The first of five drawings will take place Friday, with the first deadline for entries being Wednesday, at 11:59 p.m. Anyone who has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by the deadline can enter for the drawings at MOStopsCovid.com/win.
