A year after the virus stopped the Boone County Fair, it’s back with a way to stop the virus

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Fair is back after being canceled due to the pandemic last year, and this time it's making a return to Columbia.

Along with the return, local health officials are offering coronavirus vaccine clinics at the fair all week long in hopes of adding to the 173,418 total doses already administered in the county.

Just a year earlier on July 20, 2020, the Columbia/Boone County Health Department confirmed the county's 900th case of COVID-19. As of Monday's update, the county has now recorded a total of 20,027 cases.

The vaccine clinics and the fair start Tuesday at 4 p.m. and go through Saturday. If you are looking for the shot, clinics will be open until 10 p.m. inside the gates south of the ticket booth.

The clinics at the fair will be walk-in based so no appointments are needed. The clinics will offer both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Vaccines are free and anyone 12 or older is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. Parental consent forms are required for anyone under the age of 18.

Carnival doors open Tuesday at 4 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the gate, but kids six and under get in for free.
