Millions of Americans took to the rails, roads and skies over the Fourth of July weekend.

Increasing confidence in low case levels and growing vaccination numbers prompted Americans to get together and celebrate, according to experts. At the same time, case numbers are growing fast in states such as Missouri, fueled in part by the more contagious delta variant and pushing some to avoid travel.
