THURSDAY UPDATES: Active coronavirus cases drops in Boone County
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting eight new COVID-19 cases.
There are currently 57 active cases in the county.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 18,403.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 18,257.

The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 19.
The health department is reporting one Boone County resident is in the hospital due to the coronavirus.

The hospital status remains in 'Green' status. 'Green' status is when hospitals are operating within licensed bed capacity; accepting patient transfers from referring hospitals within standard care operating procedures.
The State of Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 81,860 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 70,444 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.
Boone County has the largest percentage of people in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 45.4%. The second closest in the state is St. Louis County with 41.7%.
Boone County is first in the state with a reported 39% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. Atchison County is second in the state with 35.3% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination.
Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 36.6%. Montgomery County is third with 32.9%.
Average daily vaccinations drop to lowest point since April peak
The seven-day average of daily vaccinations dropped to 18,894 Thursday, according to the state health dashboard. It's slightly over a third of the highest seven-day average recorded in Missouri on April 11, when the average per day reached 54,187.
As the demand for coronavirus vaccinations continues to drop, so has the supply Missouri receives. For the week of May 10, the Department of Health and Senior Services reported that Missouri received 12,660 doses, down 7,960 doses from the week of May 3, when Missouri received 20,620.
The drop is even greater when going back to the week of April 26, when the state received 57,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
As of Thursday morning, 39% of Missourians have initiated vaccination and 32% are fully vaccinated.
DHSS also added 451 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to the state dashboard Thursday, bringing the total number of positive cases confirmed through PCR testing to 506,708. An additional 168 probable cases were discovered through antigen testing in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number to 85,341.
The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate stayed steady, remaining at 4.3%.
Health officials also reported five new deaths due to COVID-19 in Missouri. Throughout the pandemic, 8,848 Missouri residents have died from the virus.
