For the second day in a row, health officials reported more than 600 cases through PCR testing. The state's total number of cases increased to 498,852.

The combined case total had fallen recently but has started to pick up again. Even though more COVID-19 cases are being reported, the state's positivity rate hasn't seen a substantial increase.

On Friday, the health department said Missouri's seven-day positivity rate was 4.8%, a decrease of 0.1 from the day before. According to the department's coronavirus dashboard, the rate went up to 5% on April 12 and has remained about that high since then.

The positivity rate was near pandemic lows throughout March as new cases and COVID-19 testing dipped.

The state calculates the positivity rate by dividing the total number of positive cases by the total number of tests in a week. The dashboard said testing has fallen every week since late February.

One-fourth of Missourians have completed coronavirus vaccination -- 1.5 million Missourians. The dashboard said 2.1 million state residents have had at least one shot of vaccine as of Friday.

Boone County is still leading the state for its percentage of residents initiating vaccination -- 43%. The dashboard said more than 77,000 residents have received at least one dose of vaccine and that 51,000 others have completed vaccination.
