Federal report shows substantial decrease in COVID-19 deaths

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri's latest state profile report, or 'red zone' report, recorded an 86% decrease in COVID-19 deaths from the previous week.

While COVID-19 deaths decreased, the case and positivity rates both increased. The state reported 4,241 new COVID-19 cases, which is a 5% increase from the previous week, and the positivity rate increased by 0.4% now sitting at 4.9%.

However, as of Wednesday morning, Missouri officials said the seven-day positivity rate was 4.7%.

Seventeen counties in Missouri are currently in the red zone including St. Louis County, Macon, and Randolph, and 25 counties are in the orange zone including Boone, Camden, and Montgomery counties.

The state profile report shows 4,222,465 total doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been delivered to the show me state. As of Tuesday, the state's vaccine dashboard said more than 3.1 million doses have been administered.
