Mass vaccination event in Jefferson City prioritizes school employees
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Jefferson City is set to hold a mass vaccination clinic at the Linc, giving Cole County education staff the first opportunity to register.
The event at The Linc is scheduled to take place Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

According to the Cole County Health Department's website, the event still has open vaccination slots. Health department director Kristi Campbell said there 2,300 vaccine doses available at the event.
As of 10:45 a.m., there were openings for 400 more vaccinations. The health department asked that anyone seeking a vaccination call 877-435-8411 to register for an appointment.
Jefferson City Schools Director of Communications Ryan Burns said approximately 700 staff members are signed up for Friday's event. Burns said when the district surveyed staff last fall, 76% of respondents said they were interested in receiving the vaccine.
JC Schools are dismissing schools three hours early for the event. Cole County R-V is switching to virtual learning Friday to allow staff time to get the vaccinations.
The second dose event will be held on Friday, April 9, at the same location. Appointments will be at the same scheduled time as residents' first dose appointment.
No appointment reminders will be sent out for second doses.
The mass vaccination event will utilize Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine.
