On Friday, the health department and other organizations are holding a vaccination event at the Linc. It starts at 8 a.m. The health department plans to vaccinate 2,000 at the event.

Cole County Health Department Director Kristi Campbell said during the news conference that only the Pfizer vaccine will be available during the event.

Campbell included that if a person doesn't show up for their vaccination appointment, the health department will contact people who are eligible to receive the vaccine until the spot can be filled.

"We will make sure no dose is wasted," Campbell said.

The health department director said most people who signed up for the event live around the area but that some might be driving in from outside the county. Campbell added that there's no rule limiting the health department on restricting vaccine doses only for county residents.
