QUESTION OF THE DAY: Should noncompliant businesses be shut down?

Over the weekend inspectors for the Columbia/Boone County health department shut down a Columbia bar for not adhering to COVID-19 health orders.

Throughout the pandemic health officials have inspected and cited businesses for not adhering to the city and county coronavirus health order. However, many business owners and their supporters have argued the local government is infringing on individual liberty.

Health officials say the orders -- and enforcing them -- are necessary to help slow down the spread of coronavirus.
