WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports 90 new COVID-19 cases; recoveries tops 15,000
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 90 new COVID-19 cases.
The dashboard is currently reporting 702 active cases, a 10 case increase from Tuesday.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 15,800.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 15,031, an 80 case increase from Tuesday.
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 81.
The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 29.1% for Jan. 8 through last Thursday.
The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 86, a nine case drop from Tuesday.
The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 31, a decrease of eight from Tuesday.
The dashboard is reporting 20 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 10 patients on ventilators.
The hospital status is still currently in the 'yellow' zone.
Statewide COVID-19 deaths top out near 6,500
The state health department reported Missouri COVID-19 deaths topped out close to 6,500 on Wednesday morning.
According to the health department's coronavirus dashboard, officials have reported 6,461 virus-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Health officials added 198 more COVID-19 deaths to the state's count on Wednesday. It includes 156 reported Tuesday through the department's weekly check of death certificates.
The health department reported 1,592 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday bringing the pandemic up to 441,789.
Missouri's seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate went down 0.3% to 12.4%. The rate has continued to fall over the last two weeks going down to levels of spread not seen in months.
Even though the rate has fallen, CDC data indicates any rate over 10% indicates widespread COVID-19.
State hospital officials said 2,397 were hospitalized and 538 were admitted to the ICU because of the coronavirus.
